What is Ecutek?

Ecutek is the remapping of the factory computer (ecu) available for a wide range of Subaru Turbo & Mitsubishi EVO models, see reference guide PDF

Why do you remap the ecu?

To improve drivability, torque, power and economy of your car.

How is it done?

With the ground breaking software that Ecutek have developed we are actually able retune the factory ecu with a lap top computer through the factory “OBD11” port so that it still works in entirely the same manner as Subaru designed it, with improved maps to suit your needs and/or modifications to your car.

What is a map?

An ecu has between 16 and 100 maps inside, most maps have 2 axis with preset values at given load sites, only with Ecutek do we have the ability to see and change each value in each load site.

Why is Ecutek better than a replacement ecu or interceptor ecu?

There’s a handful of reasons that Ecutek retuning of the factory ecu is a better option than any other :

1. Safety, the factory ecu has inbuilt engine safety maps that are activated when there is any risk of engine damage from excessive temperatures, bad fuels etc. Interceptor ecu’s mislead the factory ecu to achieve power and in most cases the ecu won't see when sensors are out of range or if there is an over boost situation etc. Plus those tuners are usually unaware of the current level of ecu relearning at the time of installing their device and therefore can not maximize the inbuilt engine safety maps.
2. An interceptor ecu tuner can not actually see the values in the load sites of the factory ecu on the car they are tuning.
3. The use of the “active” ignition relearning that the factory ecu has, gives us the ability to tune for maximum power and engine safety all in one. The ignition map actually changes to suit the conditions, so we don’t need to tune cars on the “living edge” to provide awesome power and torque!
4. The stealthness of Ecutek is just a bonus, because there are no added devices the ecu can be fully remapped with no tell tales left behind (unlike any other Subaru ecu upgrade available).
